As you know Sony is a very big company for its excellent quality electronics goods which come from Japan, and as for that you must know one of their inventions called PSP (which I will be talking about in this review). PSP stands for Playstation portable. PSP first was noticed on May 11th 2004. In Japan it was released on December 12th 2004, in North America it was released on March 24th 2005. Later it was released on the PAL region on September 1st 2005. The make Sony is competing with their PSP directly with Nintendo for their Nintendo DSi and Nintendo 3DS.There are 4 PSP altogether which are: PSP 1000, PSP 2000, PSP 3000 and last but not least PSP go (PSP N1000). I will be writing about all of these PSP.
First I will be telling you about the first PSP that ever came out which is the PSP 1000. I’ll start by writing about the good things about PSP 1000 which the Sony PSP is a slick portable gaming system highlighted by an impressive wide-screen display and PS2-like graphics which is decent. It also has built-in Wi-Fi which is very handy to connect to the internet wirelessly, a Web browser, and the ability to play music and videos, as well as to store them plus store images. Now I’ll write about the bad things which are that the Sony’s PSP multimedia functionality is underwhelming, especially for video, requires expensive memory cards. The load times on the UMD games can be very excessive to the new models of the PSP. PSP 1000 was first released on December 12th 2004 in Japan and you can connect it to a USB 2.0, play UMD disks, serial port, has a headphone jack, and a memory stick PRO duo which is quite expensive in the market. The WIFI connectivity is 802.11b (IRDA). The original system software is only 1.00 (I know that’s not much but that was the first PSP ever out) also you don’t have to worry about that as you can update your PSP through the internet or whilst playing a new game.
PSP 1000
Secondly I will be telling you about the PSP 2000. The good thing about PSP 2000 is that it is lighter, slimmer, and sleeker update of the original PSP which is awesome. It has an AV output for video and game playback on TVs, it has an improved load times for games which is excellent, retains all of the impressive media and online features of the original PSP and has a deep line up of great game titles that offer better graphics than Nintendo DS games. The bad thing about PSP 2000 is that despite the improvements, problems and improvements remain: UMD load times still not that great compared to Flash-based DS games, the volume levels still less than optimal, it’s limited game play options via video output, the USB charging option is cumbersome, the screen is still too reflective which is not good in sunlight and the subtle redesign missed the opportunity to add even more features again to make it worth buying for the price.
psp 2000
Now I will be telling you about the PSP 3000. The good thing about PSP 3000 is that it has a light, slim enclosure, a great screen that offers better colour reproduction than any of the earlier PSP models which is a great improvement, it’s improved AV output for video and game playback on TVs, it’s built-in Skype with onboard microphone which mean you can contact your family and friends who have Skype, retains all of the impressive media and online features of earlier PSP models and has a deep line up of great game titles that offers better graphics than any Nintendo DS game. The bad things about PSP 3000 is that despite improvements, problems remain: screen exhibits noticeable jaggies and scan lines during high-motion video and gaming sequences, UMD load times are still quite slow compared with DS games, screen isn't glare-free, and is still a magnet for fingerprints, the web browser and data input can be improved, it has no built-in storage for data and finally the subtle redesign missed the opportunity to add even more unique feature which will make it worth buying or replacing the older models of the PSP. Here are some extra information about PSP 3000: PSP 3000 was released on October 2008, you can connect it to a USB 2.0, play UMD disks, video out, microphone, head phone jack, and can inserts a memory stick PRO duo which is quite expensive, internal storage and RAM is 64MB system and 64 MB software, the original system/software is 4.20 and the WIFI connectivity is 802.11b.
PSP 3000
Finally I will be telling
you about the PSP GO (PSP-N1000). The good thing about PSP GO is that it has a slimmer light weight design, it’s more portable then
it once was, (good interface although still looking for two analog sticks)
overall the same features as the PSP 2000, PSP 3000 and PS3 (Playstation 3)
sync has a nice feature which has a slight better display colour then the previous
models so far. The bad things about PSP go is that it connects to computer by a
special cable, it can't play UMD disks on it which is a great downfall (but
most games are available by download or soon will be), the screen is kind of
smaller and it’s sold for a very high price in the market. You can connect the
PSP GO to headphone jack; microphone and a memory stick micro (to increase
memory space). The WIFI connectivity is 802.11b
including Bluetooth 2.0 (EDR) which is fantastic. PSP GO was first released on
October 2009 and the original system software is 5.70 (see the big difference
from the first PSP 1000 to PSP go). The RAM is 64MB, the storage is a whopping
16GB. The display is 3.8 inch 16:9 colour; TFT is at 480 x 272. Also this is a
slide out console.
